Valley Verges is a community-led, volunteer-run initiative based in White Gum Valley, Western Australia.
Together, we transform suburban verge spaces—those underutilised strips of land between footpaths and roads—into thriving native biodiversity gardens.
By organising practical workshops, building habitat infrastructure, and fostering grassroots participation, Valley Verges showcases how communities can regenerate local ecosystems, support endangered species, and combat the climate crisis at a local scale.
Some of our achievements since 2019…
Approximately 5,000 square meters of verge transformed into biodiverse gardens (and counting).
To date, about 350 local community members participating in workshops.
So far, around 15,000 native plants in the ground.
A grand total of ~35,000 native plants given away at three native plant giveaways in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
